ABT-102 is a potent, highly selective, orally active TRPV1 antagonist that inhibits agonist-evoked increases in intracellular Ca(2+) levels with IC50 of 5-7 nM; shows high selectivity over other TRP receptors; also potently inhibits capsaicin-evoked currents in rat dorsal root ganglion neurons and currents evoked by capsaicin, protons, or heat (IC50=1-16 nM); blocks heat-evoked firing of wide dynamic range and nociceptive-specific neurons in the spinal cord dorsal horn of the rat.
