A quinoxaline-type tyrphostin that acts as a potent and selective inhibitor of PDGFR kinase in vitro and in Swiss 3T3 cells with IC50 of 0.3-1 uM; inhibits PDGF-stimulated DNA synthesis with IC50 of 2.5 uM without affecting activity of EGFR; selectively attenuates smooth muscle cell growth in vitro and reduces neointimal formation after balloon angioplasty in swine.
