AZD2716 (AZD-2716) is a novel potent, selective, orally bioavailable sPLA2 inhibitor with excellent plasma sPLA2 inhibition (IC50=0.1 nM).
AZD2716 effectively inhibits sPLA2 activity (IC50 <14 nM) and suppresses production of sPLA2-IIa (IC50=176 nM), demonstrates significant activity (IC50=56 nM) in atherosclerotic plaque homogenates.
AZD2716 is a clinical candidate for the treatment of coronary artery disease.
