Biological Activity
Autophagy activator SQ-1 (STOCK1N-57534) is a small-molecule activator of autophagy, engages the prototypical SAR protein p62/SQSTM1 (sequestosome-1), binds ZZ domain of p62 and induces p62 oligomerisation.
SQ-1 induces autophagy in a p62 ZZ domain- and oligomerisation-dependent manner.
SQ-1 induces autophagy by sensitising p62 to oxidation by mitochondria-derived ROS.
SQ-1 rescues survival of NPC1 cells by activating autophagy/mitophagy.
SQ-1 enhances the flux through p62-dependent selective autophagy pathway.
