    Biological Activity

    BLI-489 is a bicyclic penem inhibitor that inhibits class A, C, and D beta-lactamases with synergistic effects with piperacillin.
    The combination of piperacillin-BLI-489 demonstrated improved activity compared to that of piperacillin-tazobactam against the problematic extended-spectrum beta-lactamase- and AmpC-expressing strains.
