A cell-permeable synthetic peptide inhibitor of Bax conformational change and mitochondrial translocation; inhibits Bax-mediated apoptosis in vitro; inhibit anti-cancer drug-induced apoptosis in vitro; upregulats expression of anti-apoptotic proteins Bcl-2 and XIAP by more than 3- and 11-fold and downregulates expression of apoptosis-inducing proteins Bax, Bad, and nuclear factor-kappaB-p65 by 10, 30, and nearly 50%, respectively, on pancreatic islets in a mouse model.
