Biological Activity

Cidofovir (GS-0504, HPMPC) is the prodrug of cidofovir diphosphate that inhibits cytomegalovirus (CMV) viral replication by selectively inhibiting viral DNA polymerases.
Cidofovir also incorporates itself into viral DNA hence inhibiting viral DNA synthesis during reproduction.
