EG00229 is the first small molecule ligand for the VEGF-A receptor neuropilin 1 (NRP1), selectively inhibits radiolabeled 125I-VEGF-A binding to PAE/NRP1 with IC50 of 8 uM.
EG00229 inhibits bt-VEGF-A binding to purified NRP1 b1 domain in a cell-free assay with an IC50 of 3 uM.
EG00229 shows no effect on VEGFA binding to VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2.
EG00229 attenuates VEGFR2 phosphorylation and inhibits migration in endothelial cells.
