F3406 (VU0621623, F3406-2010) is a novel small-molecule arenaviruse inhibitor that exhibits strong anti-LCMV activity (IC50<1 uM) without cell toxicity.
F3406 inhibits LCMV cell entry by specifically interfering with the pH-dependent fusion in the endosome compartment that is mediated by LCMV glycoprotein GP2.
F3406 inhibits LCMV multiplication with IC50 of 0.4, 0.7 and 0.9 uM in A549 BHK-21 and Vero cells, respectively.
