Gallotannin (Tannic acid;Tannin) is a potent PARG (poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase) inhibitor that produces significant reductions in H2O2-induced cell death in cultured murine astrocytes; prevents PARP1-mediated cell death by slowing the turnover of poly(ADP-ribose) and thus slowing NAD(+) consumption; increases endogenous DNA damage, stalls replication forks and increases homologous recombination.
