    PZL-26 is a potent and selective, small molecule inhibitor of Lon protease 1 (LONP1) with IC50 of 27 nM, showing very low activity against the 20S proteasome (IC50=7.3 uM).
    PZL-26 forms a covalent bond with the reactive oxygen of Ser855.
    PZL-26 inhibits the proteolytic activity of LONP1.
    PZL-26 is a tool for investigating LONP1 and underscore the critical role of LONP1 in mitochondrial proteostasis and drug resistance.
