Biological Activity
SF2768 (RK-276A) is a diisonitrile antibiotic and specific copper chelator, exhibits potent antifungal activity against C. albicans with IC50 of 0.01 uM.
SF2768 is almost equivalent to that of existing antifungal drugs, such as amphotericin B and micafungin.
also showed antifungal activity against Aspergillus fumigatus and Staphylococcus aureus at sub-µM without any cytotoxicity to HL-60 cells up to 30 µM (selectivity index > 3,000).
SF2768 suppressed the morphological changes in C. albicans from hyphal to yeast form.
SF2768 suppressed the yeast budding of C. albicans.
SF2768 can specifically bind to copper in a stoichiometry of 2:1.
