SMER3 is a specific small molecule inhibitor of E3 ubiquitin ligase SCFMet30, a member of SCF family E3 ubiquitin ligases.
SMER3 does not inhibit the closely related SCFCdc4.
SMER3 enhances rapamycin's growth inhibitory effect by inhibition of SCFMet30.
SMER3 prevents the assembly of SCFMet30 or induces SCF complex dissociation.
SMER3 directly binds to Met30-Skp1, but not Skp1 alone.
SMER3 specifically inactivates SCFMet30 by binding to Met30.
