Tanaproget (NSP-989, WAY-166989) is a potent and selective, nonsteroidal progesterone receptor (PR) agonist with EC50 of 0.15 nM, displaces [3H]R5020 (synthetic steroidal progestin) binding to the human PR with IC50 of 1.7 nM. Tanaproget promotes PR and SRC-1 interaction in mammalian cells. Tanaproget shows 0.3-0.5 nM affinity for monkey, rat, and rabbit PR. Tanaproget does not exhibit any agonist activity against other steroid receptors ER, AR, and GR.
