Biological Activity

Tanshinone I is a natural compound isolated from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge with antagonist activity at GABAA receptors, inhibits type IIA human recombinant sPLA2 (IC50=11 uM) and rabbit recombinant cPLA2 (IC50=82 uM), also is a Syk inhibitor (IC50=1.64 uM) and exhibits anti-mast cell degranulation activity in vitro (IC50=2.76 uM).
Tanshinone I ameliorates the learning and memory impairments induced by diazepam and MK-801 through activation of ERK signalling.
Tanshinone I also inhibits SARS-CoV-2 PLpro with IC50 of 2.21 uM.
Tanshinone I inhibits PGE(2) formation from LPS-induced RAW macrophages with IC50 of 38 uM.
Tanshinone I shows in vivo antiinflammatory activity in rat carrageenan-induced paw oedema and adjuvant-induced arthritis.
