ZW-2038 suppresses VACV DNA replication and downstream gene expression but not early gene replication, suppresses VACV replication by interfering with VACV DNA replication, which in turn prevents the expression of downstream intermediate and late genes.
ZW-2038 (10 μM) significantly inhibits MPXV and CPXV replication in primary HFFs.
ZW-2038 reduces VACV replication in human and non-human primate enteroids and in ex vivo lung tissue models.
ZW-2038 does not inhibit MPXV resolvase in vitro.
