A novel DNA gyrase inhibitor that inhibits bacterial DNA biosynthesis, has potent in vitro activity against many different bacterial species with MIC of 0.004 to 0.25 ug/ml; the MIC90s for C. trachomatis and C. pneumoniaeare 0.25 ug/ml and 1 ug/ml, respectively, and the MBC90s are 0.5 ug/ml for C. trachomatis and 2 ug/ml for C. pneumoniae.
