Biological Activity

BChE inhibitor (R)-(-)-3 is a potent, selective butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitor with Ki of 6.6 nM, IC50 of 12 nM (hBChE), >1500-fold selective over hAChE.
(R)-(-)-3 (5 μM) have neuroprotective activity as tit diminished Aβ1–42-induced cell death in SH-SY5Y cells.
(R)-(-)-3 has procognitive effects in mice with scopolamine-induced AD-like symptoms, produces no cholinergic adverse effects or motor deficits and has no acute toxic effects in mice.
