CSTI-300 (SMP-100) is a potent, selective 5-HT3 receptor partial agonist with high affinity for human and rat 5-HT3 receptor (Ki=2.0 nM).
CSTI-300 demonstrates over 100-fold greater affinity compared with 5-HT, shows comparable affinity against h5-HT3A, h5-HT3AB, and r5-HT3A receptors.
CSTI-300 demonstrate the potential therapeutic effectiveness as a treatment of symptoms associated with IBS-d and carcinoid syndrome.
CSTI-300 displays a similar binding affinity to ondansetron and 10 times lower affinity than the very high-affinity 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, alosetron.
