Gerfelin is an osteoclastogenesis inhibitor (IC50=61 uM) through the competitive inhibition of glyoxalase I (GLO1) with Ki of 0.15 uM; shows weak inhibitory effect due to poor cell permeability compared with Methyl gerfelin; also inhibits P. falciparum GLO1.
