A small-molecule superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimetic that converts superoxide to hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen; significantly mitigates the increased sensitivity of old fibroblasts to ionizing radiation and chemotherapy and partially restores mitochondrial function without affecting ionizing radiation or chemotherapy-induced cancer cell killing.
