    Biological Activity

MIF agonist MIF20 is an allosteric small molecule agonist of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), binds to MIF and increases its affinity for the cognate MIF receptor CD74, increasing the strength of downstream signal transduction.
MIF20 reduces infarct size and preserves cardiac systolic function caused by I/R.
MIF20 attenuates IR-induced cardiac fibrosis in aging. MIF20 improves the contractile properties of isolated cardiomyocytes under stress.
MIF20 preserves mitochondrial respiratory fitness via energy metabolism and maintainenance of redox homeostasis under pathological stress.
MIF20 modulates the NAD+/ NADH and metabolic homeostasis under I/R.
MIF20 enhances the MIF-CD74/CD44-AMPK signaling cascade to increase cardiac glucose uptake and exert a cardioprotection action against I/R injury in vivo.
