Terazosin is a small molecule α1-adrenergic receptor antagonist and activator of phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) at 2.5 nM -0.5 uM, binds to PGK1 with ITC Kd of 2.78 uM.
Terazosin at higher dosages (2.5 uM and 25 μM) inhibits PGK1.
Terazosin activates its enzymatic activity, probably through 1,3-diamino-6,7-dimethoxyisoquinoline's ability to promote ATP release from Pgk1.
Terazosin rescues rodent models of sepsis and stoke in vivo.
Terazosin stimulates glycolysis and increasing cellular ATP levels.
Terazosin attenuates Parkinson's disease progression in models and clinical databases.
