UC2288 is a small molecule p21 inhibitor, attenuates p21 protein abundance at 10 µM, independently of p53 activity and at the level of transcription or post-transcription.
UC2288 is a chemical analog of sorafenib, a multikinase inhibitor that also attenuates p21, but UC2288 does not inhibit Raf kinases or alter p-ERK protein levels.
UC2288 (10 uM) decreases p21 mRNA expression with no effect on p21 protein stability in 786-O cells.
UC2288 inhibits cell growth of various cancer cell lines, decreases cytosolic p21.
