Biological Activity
Ubistatin B (ubiB, Ubistatin-B) is a small molecule inhibitor of proteasome-dependent degradation by binding the ubiquitin chain, binds ubiquitin and diubiquitin, shows strong preference for K48-linkages over K11 and K63, can penetrate cancer cells and alters cellular ubiquitin landscape.
Ubistatin B blockscell cycle progression by inhibiting cyclin B proteolysis and inhibits degradation of ubiquitinated Sic1 by purified proteasomes.
Ubistatin B shields ubiquitin conjugates from disassembly by a range of deubiquitinases and by the 26S proteasome.
Ubistatin B acts by disrupting a critical protein-protein interaction in the ubiquitin-proteasome system.
