A specific inhibitor of mitochondrial Na(+)-Ca(2+) exchanger (mNCE) with IC50 of 1.5 uM in INS-1 cells; decreases the amplitude of the mitochondrion-mediated plateau phase in cultured rat dorsal root ganglion neurons with IC50 of 4 uM; increases mitochondrial metabolism and potentiates glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in rat pancreatic islets.
